While on campus, students may be interested to get a side job so many reasons but mainly
1. For financial support; to raise money for fees or support their livelihood on campus financially
2. To get the experience and be exposed to the job market. Now you complete school and starts to look for job, companies will be requiring 3years experience and stuff. And how are you going to get that of you just graduated?
Others may include, for prestige or just occupy oneself and get busy with work as the person’s timetable maybe a very flexible one with lots of free time to spare
As a regular student, the school sees you as one who is willing to do a full time studies and if you want to get a side job, you will have to consider that.
First of all, you’ll possibly be free during the weekends as there will be academic work during the week days. And sometimes even the weekends are occupied with group studies, tutorials and quizzes in the case of UCC for instance
So if you’re going to get a job, it should be one that
1. will require you to work only during the weekends.
2. or one that is flexible to allow you go in out at your own free will but mainly from agreement based on the structure of your timetable
3. Or one that is paid based on hours worked
I’ll list a few jobs students can look out for when looking for one but it’s essential to note that, not a one size fits all and hence the matter of which job is appropriate will differ from one person to the other on many grounds
So as a regular student, aside from the regular factors you consider when looking for a job such as the remuneration, your availability, the conducive nature of the work, your qualifications, other incentives etc you should also consider
1. The programme you’re reading as some programmes will require more time and extra work and wouldn’t permit a side work or side works to a certain level
2. You should also consider your strengths and weakness academically and how discipline you are to be able to blend the two without compromising your studies.
3. The nature of the work; the time required and how tiresome the work can be. Remember, you may have to be working in between your lecture hours and you can’t afford to opt for a job that will render you tired and depriving you of a sound mind to study.
So you should consider if the job is going to allow you to continue perform well academically while also performing well on the job

That said, here are a few jobs a regular student can consider:
✅ A shop attendant
✅ A typist or working in a printing shop
✅ Online paid work (Encouraged)
✅ Paid Volunteering on campus
✅ A subject teacher in the university’s lower schools; shs, jhs, or primary
✅ Job openings at various faculties and departments
✅ A paid teaching assistant to a lecturer
✅ A personal aide to a lecturer
✅ And many more
But the best is to be a sole proprietor or best put, to be an entrepreneur. Set up your own business and that way, you can manipulate it to suite your work and your academics.
💥 Selling of airtime
💥 A graphic designer
💥 A caterer to sell food comfortable hours, mostly at nights or to be taking orders for events
💥 Students seamstress
💥 Mobile Money
💥 A studies teacher
And many more, mainly based on your talents, skills, knowledge and abilities. But running a self-made business may be the best option for a regular student.
