The Secretary-elect of UTAG, University of Ghana Chapter, Professor Ransford Gyampo during an interview on UTV’s Adekye Nsoroma on August 10, 2021 has reaffirmed that UTAG has no intentions of going back to classrooms until government meets its needs.

He stated that the National Labour Commission (NLC) which is responsible for promoting harmonious labour relations environment, ensuring compliance with the laws regulating the employment relationship and ensuring adherence to procedures for addressing industrial disputes/disagreements discriminates against the labour force. He added that the NLC is known for just summoning labour unions to court but not looking to meet the needs of the unions.

Prof. Gyampo said that the association is ready for whatever consequences the strike may cause: even if the strike warrants the arrest of teachers.
